Warner’s record-smashing century takes Nine to easy ratings win
Australia’s dominant performance in the first day of The Third Test against Pakistan helped deliver Nine a significant audience boost on 2016’s new year test.
An average metro audience of 565,000 tuned in for the first session of the match to see David Warner become the first person to score a century in the opening session of a Test match in Australia.

Meanwhile, the evening session was Tuesday’s most watched non-news program, pulling an average of 883,000 metro viewers – well up from last year’s 718,000. The afternoon session attracted 694,000 viewers, according to OzTam’s overnight preliminary metro ratings.
Thanks in part to the inherited audience, the 6pm Nine News bulletin was the most watched program of the evening securing 1.088m viewers, just ahead of Seven News which averaged 1.045m.
On a day dominated by cricket, Ten’s best performer was Big Bash League which saw Brisbane Heat take on the Sydney Sixers, pulling 786,000 viewers.
Managing a total audience share of 20.1% Nine led the night, ahead of Ten with 16.0%. Seven was third with a share of 15.2%.
