King’s Speech Oscar winner to appear at Mumbrella360
Oscar winning producer Emile Sherman is to take part in June’s Mumbrella360 conference.
Sherman produced The King’s Speech through his company See-Saw Films. It won four Academy Awards including best picture.
Sherman’s previous films have included Candy starring Heath Ledger, Geoffrey Rush and Abbie Cornish; Disgrace starring John Malkovich, and Rabbit Proof Fence.
Sherman will be appearing on a panel at a session curated by Mumbrella’s sister title for the film and TV industry Encore.
Also on the Encore Question Time panel will be Ruth Harley, CEO of film and TV funding body Screen Australia and the president of the Screen Producers Association of Australia, Antony Ginnane. The panel will be moderated by Encore editor Miguel Gonzalez.
One of the sessions curated by Encore will focus on branded content. Among those speaking on the panel will be Anthony Damianakis, executive producer at Vokyo Entertainment, which created the ACP-based factual series Park Street.
And another of the Encore-streamed Mumbrella360 sessions will examine the Masterchef phenomenon, exploring how the property delivers value for brands across TV, magazines, online, consumer products and live events.
Among those on the Masterchef Wheel Of Value panel will be Fremantle Media Enterprises’ Asia Pacific CEO Jon Penn.
Mumbrella360 takes place at the Hilton Hotel in Sydney on June 7 and 8. Early bird bookings – with a discount of $500 – are available until this Friday on the Mumbrella360 website.
Can you please ask Ruth Harley why Screen Australia gives money for promotion of Australian movies to distributors like (edited by Mumbrella for legal reasons), but have not once audited them to see if the promotional/ marketing money is actually spent. Given the complete lack of visibility for Australian movies, it seems distributors just keep the money for themselves. Major issue.
