Sinbad feature begins production in Queensland
Producers Dale and Grant Bradley start production of the privately-financed Limelight International feature Sinbad and the Minotaur this week in Queensland.
The project is a re-imagining of the folk character, and stars Australian actor Manu Bennett (30 Days of Night, Spartacus: Blood and Sand) as Sinbad. In this version, Sinbad the Sailor and his shipmates confront the vicious Minotaur of Greek mythology, a 12-foot tall hybrid of man and bull which stalks a sprawling labyrinth beneath the fabled isle of Minos.
Production will take place in February and March at locations around Brisbane and the Gold Coast and at producers Limelight International’s 1000sqm studio at Loganholme.
The Bradley brothers specialise in genre films and have been producing features and television projects for more than 25 years – including executive producer roles in Jon Hewitt’s Acolytes, and the Doctor Who spinoff K-9, which will air on Ten this year. They relocated from New Zealand to southeast Queensland in 2008 and have produced three features there since.
