Ten is bringing Junior Masterchef Australia back for a third season. Season one and two aired back in 2010 and 2011.
A casting notice for the show said the production company was on the hunt for Australia’s best young chefs and bakers.

“We are looking for Australia’s best young chefs and bakers to join us in the Masterchef Kitchen for a new series of Junior Masterchef. Applications are now open and we look forward to welcoming you into the MasterChef family,” read the notice.
The first season of the format was hosted by existing Materchef judges Matt Preston, George Calombaris and Gary Mehigan alongside new judge, Anna Gare. Season two saw Preston replaced by Matt Moran as he chose to focus on his commitments outside of Masterchef.
Preston, Calombaris and Mehigan have since moved on from the Masterchef franchise as negotiations broke down during season 11. It isn’t yet clear if the three new Masterchef judges (Jock Zonfrillo, Melissa Leong and season four winner Andy Allen) will host the Junior spinoff. Preston and Mehigan have moved on to Seven’s Plate of Origin which is yet to air.
The first season of Junior Materchef launched in 2010 to 2.2m metro viewers. It wrapped after 17 episodes to 1.85m metro viewers. Season two brought in 1.129m metro viewers for its premiere and concluded to 911,000 metro viewers after 21 episodes.
Masterchef Australia: Back to Win has been performing well for Ten in 2020 with the three new judges at the helm. The show kicked off with 1.268m metro viewers – a 71.7% increase on 2019’s premiere – and held above 1m metro viewers for its first five episodes.
I reckon that by now everyone knows that the previous three judges had a pay dispute and are now no longer on the show. Maybe put that stock phrase back in the quiver?
