APC magazine releases 500th anniversary edition

APC magazine has launched its 500th anniversary edition.

The announcement:

The 500th edition of APC magazine has hit the newsstands, 41 years after it first reported on personal computing and technology news for Australian IT professionals, users and enthusiasts.

“To think that back in 1980 the team were covering the release of the Commodore VIC-20 and printing the programming code for games for readers to hand-type into their computers, to now be covering artificial intelligence, augmented reality and PCs with more power than a supercomputer of just a few years ago, we’ve come a long way with our readers” says Ben Mansill, APC Editor.

“Our 500th edition is a tribute to the many technology professionals that have contributed to our four decades of coverage, and helped keep Australia’s tech enthusiasts informed about the latest trends.”

APC, formerly known as Australian Personal Computer, was first published in May 1980 and is the longest running English-language computer magazine in the world. Each monthly issue has continued to deliver high performance personal computing articles to its readers.

Over the years APC has been more than just a magazine, offering cover-mounted CDs and then DVDs with software samples, code and program demonstrations, which continues now as free downloads each month.

“I would also like to thank our loyal readers for their continued support, without them our magazine wouldn’t be able to deliver this calibre of content,” Mansill says.

There are a number of features in this special edition looking at the present, past and future of the PC. To name a few;

How your PC life evolved alongside APC: A multi-page timeline with important tech and PC landmarks and how APC covered them all

History of the Supercomputer: How we got here, from WW2 to Cray, to where we are today

The Future: Next-gen PC tech revealed

APC’s 500th issue can be found at all good newsagents across Australia.
