Logies to end embargoed results for media after The Australian’s blunder
Journalists will no longer be issued with embargoed results of The Logies following News Limited accidentally publishing the Gold Logie winner online two years running.
On Sunday night, The Australian revealed that Asher Keddie was the winner of the event’s top award several hours ahead of the show’s TV broadcast. The news story was also republished across other News Limited Sites. The Logies are organised by TV Week.
Jayne Ferguson, Publisher, Weekly titles, of Bauer Media Group, said in a statement this afternoon: “TV Week are extremely disappointed in the leak of the Gold Logie winner, particularly after News Ltd guaranteed a strict process would be followed to ensure a repeat of last year’s breach of embargo was not made. In light of this, moving forward, all media outlets will find out who all TV Week Logie Award winners are in line with the telecast.”
The statement from TV Week also carried an apologetic statement from The Australian’s editor Clive Mathieson. He said: “We were aware that any article could not be published online before the end of the televised ceremony. But due to an error by production staff in Sydney, the article containing the winners’ names was accidentally published on our website before the end of the live ceremony. The Australian deeply regrets the error and offers its apologies to the organisers of the Logies.”
It was unclear at the time of posting whether journalists will be allowed into the ceremony, which begins a shortly before the delayed coverage is aired on Nine.

That move still doesn’t deal with twitter or even mobile phones r if they continue with delayed telecasts.
P.S. Moving forward.

Makes you wonder how many of these are broken in all areas and whether the whole notion of an embargo and indeed yet another element of trust in journalism is broken.

It’s interesting that a list of the 2013 Logie Award winners is still not available on the official logies website 4 days aftrer the live broadcast
