Taxi advertising returns to Victoria
Taxi advertising group Rova Media has rolled out advertising across the Victorian taxi fleet in Melbourne this week for the first time in over a decade, since this form of outdoor advertising has been allowed in Victoria.
External taxi advertising has not been allowed in Victoria in any form since legislation was passed in 2000 and implemented in 2005.
However, the Victorian Taxi Industry Inquiry in 2011 recommended the reinstatement of taxi advertising to allow taxi operators to earn additional revenue, and new legislation was passed this year.
Graeme Samuel, chief commissioner of the Taxi Services Commission, said allowing external advertising on taxis would bring Victoria into line with most Australian states.
Matthew Byrne, media sales director at Rova, said: “We are very excited about this new ruling as it means we can now offer our clients greater campaign coverage and choice, as well as the prospect of new products in the near future,” said Mr Byrne.
Rova will launched campaigns across the five capital cities and make Eastern Seaboard and local Melbourne campaigns available from October.
