Radio ratings: B105 leads tight Brisbane market
The highly competitive Brisbane radio market remains a five-way battle in the latest set of radio ratings with Austereo’s B105 keeping its nose in front.
B105 had a weekday share of 14% , up from 13.7% in the previous survey.
DMG’s Nova, not long ago the market leader, suffered a small drop from 11.5% to 11.4% of weekday share and 10.9% to 10.8% of seven day share. However it was enough to knock it back to joint fourth and fifth respectively.
ABC 612 and Austereo’s Triple M both saw growth.
One hopeful sign for Nova, was that the return of a degree of stability to its breakfast show lineup of Meshel, Tim & Marty saw share continue to grow, from 10.5% to 11%, third in the market behind ABC 612 and B105.
Surely the story in the Brisbane market is the outstanding success of Spencer Howson in the breakfast shift on 612ABC, leaving the commercial cornflakers in the shade? It’s not sexy for advertisers, I know, but the success of the ABC across the day, and the underperformance of the city’s one commercial talk station (compare 4BC’s figures to those of 2GB and 3AW), are worth some analysis (which I’ve been doing at debritz.net).

The Brisbane radio ratings must be very concerning given the opportunities the new Digital TV Stations like GO! and Gem are presenting. You can now buy Prime Time Television for less than Drive Time radio!
