Ten stops believing in Don’t Stop Believing
Network Ten has axed its ambitious live performance spectacular Don’t Stop Believing before it went to air.
The show – which was a centrepiece of Ten’s 2011 schedule announcement in Setpember – had always had a question mark over the format – dubbed “reality Glee” – after it failed in the UK.
But at the time, programming boss David Mott insisted to Mumbrella: “We’re evolving the show greatly from the UK version. I can tell you, anyone who has not seen the UK show has not seen our version yet.”
The show, which had been a joint production between Shine and Group M Entertainment in the UK, was to have been produced locally by Shine Australia.
The move will inevitably raise speculation that the decision not to risk the expensive production was driven by the new management team of James Packer and Lachlan Murdoch.
In a statement attributed to Mott this afternoon, Ten said: “Network Ten is reviewing Don’t Stop Believing within it’s 2011 programme schedule and has elected to postpone the production indefinitely. It may return at a later date”.
Gutted that this show is not going ahead.
We lost Australian idol, So You Think You Can Dance and now this Don’t Stop Believing? What is there left for those of us who love to see young performers singing and dancing?. Get yourselves sorted Chanel 10…Lets show the UK how it is done. Glee has not taken off in the UK like it has here so lets get this show up and running.

How about posting an ad on gumtree for auditions for a dance extravaganza for singing and dancing young performers. Venue: Your front lounge.
Make the prize very ambiguous eg. The opportuntity to be seen by top scouting talent (that’s you).

Great, we wont have to put up with another crappy reality show with wannabes. Hopefully channel ten will replace this with some intelligent program.

Cats miaw – Just because you have no talent doesn’t give you the right to say talented people are wannabes for just chasing there dream and doing what they love.
Don’t you have a dream to do something different and exciting with your life?
If you answered no well then you seriously don’t have an exciting life.
On another note If you said yes, then don’t be so selfish.
Maybe invest in buying Foxtel, so when there’s a show that you don’t like you can always put it onto a “intelligent program”.

I think if this show is not going to happen, then So You Think You Can Dance should be brought back. I also think that all these entertainment shows should be shown in the winter months when it is cold and dark and we don’t want to go out at night.
