Seven’s The Big Music Quiz dips on second outing as The Block wins the night
Seven’s celebrity panel show The Big Music Quiz grabbed 930,000 metro viewers at 7:00pm, down 23% on its debut audience of 1.21m from last week.
The Big Music Quiz last night featured Rebel Wilson, Bindi Irwin and Ada Nicodemou as guest stars tested on their knowledge of popular music.
It failed to beat Nine’s The Block, which attracted 1.071m viewers – down on last week’s 1.15m – in the same 7:00pm time slot. The Block was the most-watched show across the key advertising demographics (16-39, 18-49 and 25-54).
Ten’s Australian Survivor continues to lose viewers with 560,000 tuning in last night, down 102,000 on last week.
Nine won the night, pulling in 21.3% of the audience, ahead of Seven’s 18.4%, ABC’s 13.6% and Ten’s 10%.
Nine’s 60 Minutes captured 722,000 in the 8:30pm slot, ahead of Seven’s Sunday Night which aired at 8:00pm and pulled in 631,000.
Nine News topped the 6:00pm slot with metro audience of 1.112m, followed by Seven News at 1.004m.
Who keeps giving Rebel Wilson work in TV and movies? I have never once found her funny, I would have thought that was a prerequisite for a comedian.

It’s a solid format, and most of the guests have been pretty cool, but IMHO Darren McMullen is just not up to driving a show like this. If they did this show with Will Anderson or his ‘twin’ Adam Hills (I know he’s a massive star in the UK now, but just saying) or Julia Zameiro or Sam Pang, it could be great, anarchic, hilarious fun, but Darren just makes it turgid and slow. The constant calling out of the scores is very grating as well as his try-hard nice guy shtick…
Weirdly, I think he’s better as an actor (he’s quite good in House Husbands…) but he’s just a cringey game show host.

Possibly the worst several minutes of television I’ve seen all year. I’d rather be chained to a couch and force fed a marathon of Kardashians than have to than switch to this limp excuse for entertainment. This stuff is the reason paying for FOXTEL is still a viable option.
