Fairfax Media’s Omri Godijn and Simon Smith depart publisher
Fairfax Media’s industry head for travel and tourism, Omri Godijn, has joined rival News Corp in a similar role, with Fairfax Media’s managing director of content marketing Simon Smith also departing the publishing company.
Godijn joined News Corp this month as industry specialist for travel and tourism with the role having him work with News Corp’s teams and senior marketers from News’ travel and tourism clients.
Godijn had been with Fairfax Media since February 2011, joining as client strategy manager before taking on the position of senior client strategy manager for travel in January 2013, as well as holding the role of national sales director – arts, entertainment, sport and drive.
Godijn was made industry head for travel and tourism in December 2014. Prior to Fairfax Media he worked at SSB for six years.
Godijn’s departure comes as Fairfax Media’s managing director of content marketing, Simon Smith, departs after three years in the role.
Smith joined Fairfax Media in December 2011 as the commercial director for the Financial Review Group, before taking on the managing director of content marketing role in November 2013.
Prior to Fairfax he worked at News Corp as the strategic business director for The Australian for two-and-a-half years.
A Fairfax spokesperson said: “We wish them both well in their new endeavours.”
