From Bell Pottinger to Klareco plus Head to Head Live at Mumbrella CommsCon
Ang Shih-Huei and Mark Worthington, leaders of Asian PR firm Klareco, are the latest international PR executives to be confirmed to speak at Mumbrella CommsCon on March 28 in Sydney.
Crisis has arguably never been closer to a PR agency than when the fallout from Bell Pottinger’s sudden administration all but put the brakes on the Asian operations of the agency.
Acting quickly, Ang and Worthington moved to take control and rename the agency Klareco. At Mumbrella CommsCon, they’ll reveal the whole story including the period up to now and whether they’ve truly managed to move the agency on after the demise of Bell Pottinger.
Popular Mumbrella series Head to Head will also be brought to life in a live team debate on the issue of whether PR agencies should lead integrated marketing campaigns.
On the ‘no’ team is DDB’s chief strategy officer, Carl Ratcliff, who also has significant PR experience as the former CEO of One Green Bean.
The ‘yes’ team will include Elly Hewitt, managing director of Alt/Shift and Light Year Productions, with David Halter, chief strategy officer at CHE Proximity. More industry leaders have been confirmed for both teams and will be revealed soon.
Meanwhile Four Pillars co-founder, Matt Jones, will also take the stage to document the journey from PR professional to successful business leader.
Jones has worked as a communications consultant for the NSW Government and Jack Morton Worldwide in strategy and creative before he became a co-founder in Four Pillars in 2013.
He’ll reveal the synergies between PR and business leadership as well as what he would expect from a PR agency now that he’s on the other side.
Also confirmed is opr CEO Richard Brett and managing director of brand marketing, Jacqui Abbott, who will reveal their take on the future of storytelling.
Brett and Abbott will explore the current age of attention, what it means, the trends within it, and how the industry can navigate it.
He’ll also illustrate three creative insights that will allow PR professionals to engage and communicate more effectively with their audiences.
Mumbrella CommsCon takes place on March 28 at the Westin in Sydney and will include five international speakers, three streams of content, a live crisis simulation and much more. Tickets are on sale now.
