Ancestry moves media account from OMD to Spark Foundry
Spark Foundry has been appointed to handle Ancestry’s media strategy, planning and buying.
Spark won a competitive pitch for the business, ending OMD’s custodianship of the account.
The account move follows on on from fellow Publicis agency Performics winning Ancestry’s performance marketing account last month.
The family history and DNA website’s media account will be handled out of Spark Foundry’s Sydney office immediately, with the remit extending across both Australia and New Zealand.
“Following a collaborative and robust pitch process, we’re pleased to announce Spark Foundry as our new media agency,” Ancestry’s ANZ country manager, Nigel Seeto, said.
“The team showed a deep understanding of our business and our customers, and we look forward to working together to put our media strategy into action.
“We’d also like to thank our previous media agency, OMD, for their work in helping to build the Ancestry business in Australia and New Zealand over the past several years.”
Spark’s chief operating officer, Matthew Turl, said the agency is “excited to work with Ancestry to drive further growth across its Australian and New Zealand operations, helping people gain a new level of understanding about their lives by discovering their family history”,
Spark Foundry Australian CEO Imogen Hewitt, who was appointed to the role in September, added: “It’s great to kick the year off announcing our new working relationship with an ambitious and market-leading brand such as Ancestry. Congratulations to our Sydney team for all their hard work securing the account.”
Will OMD still make their excellent branded content? I can’t remember what it was but it was content and it was branded.
