CUB’s Woody & Cola parodies Escape – The Piña Colada Song – in latest ad
Carlton and United Breweries’ (CUB) has launched its latest campaign for bourbon whisky brand Woodstock Bourbon, featuring a parody of Rupert Holmes’ Escape (The Piña Colada Song) via TBWA Melbourne.
The campaign also sees the introduction of the characters of Woody and Cola to represent the harmony between Woodstock’s Kentucky bourbon and cola.
In the 30-second spot, Woody and Cola discuss the events of being on tour, until it is revealed that it was a dream. Woody and Cola have a barbeque before being joined by a roadie called Shane. The spot ends with the line “If you love Woody and Cola”.
CUB Premium Beverages general manager Michael Ritoli said: “It’s great to see some fun being injected back into the bourbon category and into the Woodstock brand.
“We all have a mate who’s either like Woody or like Cola, and you’re always guaranteed to have a laugh when you get together with them.”
TBWA Melbourne group creative director Matt Stoddart added: “I’ve always loved a Woody & Cola, so bringing the brand’s next chapter to life has been a heap of fun.”
“So, ‘If you like Woody & Cola’…well, you get the idea.”
TBWA Sydney released a Father’s Day campaign, which is also on CUB’s creative roster.
