Microsoft has launched its holiday campaign, partnering with an AI artist to champion holiday traditions through AI.

The announcement:

Microsoft recently launched its holiday campaign, and its hero video, “Make Your Holiday a Masterpiece”, celebrates how AI can showcase various holiday traditions celebrated worldwide.

In the campaign’s hero video, created in collaboration with McCann New York and directed by award-winning film director and photographer Andree Ljutica, transmedia artist, Ellie Pritts, sets up a creative space in a holiday-themed plaza and uses a computer as her canvas.

Ellie invites people from various backgrounds to share their favourite holiday traditions, such as the Japanese New Year and the Italian Feast of the Seven Fishes. Using Microsoft’s AI tools and Image Creator by Microsoft Designer, Ellie creates custom works of art inspired by each guest’s anecdotes, surprising them with stunning visuals that capture the essence of their distinct memories and stories.

With the holidays representing a shared moment where we reflect on our most cherished memories—times filled with joy, togetherness, and unforgettable experiences, Microsoft is showing people how they can use AI to amplify their holiday creativity to make those connections stronger.

Kathleen Hall, chief brand officer at Microsoft, said: “When someone who is truly creative uses their ingenuity with AI, magic can happen.”

“I want people to feel good about themselves as co-creators of their universe,” says Ellie.

Ellie lives with a neurological condition called CMT and synesthesia, where one sense is experienced through another—such as tasting colors or feeling sounds—and her art is shaped in part by the colors of words. She believes doors that may have been closed to her are opening up because of AI.
