Presto launches with pricing beginning at $9.99 a month
Foxtel and Network Seven’s streaming joint venture Presto has announced a tiered pricing structure beginning at $9.99 for access to either movies or TV.
For bundled access to TV and movies it will cost $14.99 a month.
The pricing news follows on from rival streaming platform Stan, a joint venture between Nine and Fairfax, announcing it would be priced at $10 a month for full access to its content library which includes both TV shows and movies.
Netflix, which is rumoured to be launching on March 31, is understood to be pricing itself at $9.99 for its standard definition service.
Presto has confirmed deals with two major studios, HBO and Showtime, however Game of Thrones is not amongst the programs to be shown after HBO made the decision the popular show would not be available on any streaming video platform worldwide.
Another notable absence in the content library is Seven and Foxtel’s co-production A Place to Call Home which Foxtel commissioned a third season of after Seven failed to pick it up. It will be made by Seven’s production unit still.
Meanwhile Stan will launch with the prequal to Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul after signing a content partnership with Sony Entertainment. Stan is expected to launch next month to tie in with the premiere of Better Call Saul.
