Unfkable women’s network launches ‘same tools’ campaign amid Leo Burnett controversy
Unfckable, a women’s creative community started in the UK just two weeks ago, has weighed into the controversy which has followed Leo Burnett’s announcement it had hired five men for senior creative roles.The group, which aims to foster the role of creative women in advertising and “the men who aren’t afraid to compete with them”, said it was uniting against “white guys on a sofa”.
Founder Jane Evans told Mumbrella Unfkable soft launched in London last Wednesday, ahead of Leo Burnett’s ill-fated announcement.
“The events in Sydney this week accelerated everything, our network grew, particularly in Sydney through discussions,” said Evans.
The community has kicked off with a provocative campaign: “How can your brand stand out when you employ the same tools as your competitors?”
The blunt reference to male domination of creative departments around the globe is aimed at getting brands to consider work with women in the network.
“The challenge is to those holding the marketing purse strings to take a stand against the lack of diversity in just about every ad agency creative department – not just Leo Burnett, who happen to be in the firing line right now,” she said.
Grey London creative director Nils Leonard has also weighed into the debate warning that Leo Burnett had sent the wrong message about the future of the industry with its creative team announcement.

Surely even having a women’s creative community is sexist and works against the gender divide that apparently they want closed?

Tutsell, Sampson.. Ignoring it and hoping it will go away? And at what cost?
Can’t say it’s a great start for the new CEO

Um? It very clearly states Unf**kable is a community for senior creative women in advertising and the men who are not afraid to compete with them. We have a lot of support from many, many men in the industry and we wouldn’t want to do it without them!

Cool, a facebook page, for women….. and men

So is this a place a male art director would find a female writer to team up with? Mixed gender teams make for better teams because you get two vastly different perspectives on things.

@Um?
I’m not sure your perception on this group is accurate.

Surely the logo and the Fbomb strapline are jokes. Tits and swear words – the tools creatives use when you run out of tools. If that’s the best a women’s group has come up with …It has to be a joke. Not wanting to buy this tshirt thanks.
