Hey Hey moves to Saturday and the boss gets the bullet for Nine
Nine has confirmed that Hey Hey It’s Saturday will move to Saturdays when it returns later this month.
The Daryl Somers-helmed show returns to the network on October 16 at 7.30pm.
After two strongly rating reunion shows, Nine commissioned a new series of Hey Hey on Wednesday nights. However it struggled to rate more than a million and the series was put on a mid year break.
According to today’s announcement from Nine, the move to Saturdays is “in direct response to audience feedback”.
Somers said: “We’ve heard the message loud and clear – viewers want to see Hey Hey back where it belongs on Saturday nights.”
Meanwhile, Nine has made a swift decision to kill off The Boss Is Coming To Dinner after two episodes, reports TV Tonight. The show attempted to combine The Apprentice with My Kitchen Rules and featured job candidates entertaining a potential employer. But it rated a dire 655,000 on Wednesday night.
Well thank-god they’ve gone back to their logic and put it on Saturday! Hey Hey it’s Saturday on a Wednesday just doesn’t work!
Ohhh what a shame, I didn’t even get a sneak at The Boss Is Coming To Dinner – they didn’t explain it very well!

Looking forward to the return on Saturdays, a 7 week run of disappointment and then a move back to the history books where it truly belongs.
Beer o’clock yet?

One of the problems of having he show on a wednesday is that even if you don’t watch it yourself (I certainly do) and you see it on the screen, there’s a little pause where your brain goes “But it can’t be saturday”.

Odd that Somers can hear this message loud and clear, but not the louder message of “Get this turkey off the air and never bring it back.”

This week on The Boss contestants vied for a $25 000 a year job. The contestants had their prospective boss over for dinner. For a $25 000 annual salary? Who though up this stuff.

I am so glad that Nine has come to his senses and killed The Boss is Coming to Dinner. Preying upon people’s desperation to be employed is not my idea of entertainment.

I don’t think moving to Saturdays is going to save it – Daryl is and always has been very average on-camera talent. He may well be a very good producer (I never quite understand what they do, but he seems to have made a lot of money selling product to nine, so good luck). DWTS proved that, and he almost sank that show despite it being a very good format. Hey Hey had Kylie on towards the end of the last run and it still didn’t rate…
As John Cleese said – THAT IS A DECEASED PARROT…

Hi
Am thrilled that Hey Hey is back on Saturday nights. Have watched the show tonight and enjoyed thouroughly until Red Faces. I truly thought it sucked that the Bubble guy was robbed from points over William because William carried on then Brian said “I had my score upside down” and reversed the winner to William. What a joke!!!. My family and I lost interest in the show hence writing this email. Look I have watched heaps of talent shows and it appears that if a 3-5 year old appears then they are sure to win whether they are good or not and recall this happening in all the years that I was an avid fan of Hey Hey!. This has put a damper on my expectations of continueing to watch the show as I was excited that a family show had finally come back to Saturday nights instead of boring repeats of movies. I hope you director’s and producer’s take these comments on board and am sure others viewers will comment as well. Please have your Red Faces Judges, judge on talent and not age, this can also be a replica of “Australia’s Next Top Model” stuff up. Please email me your comments whether positive or negative.
