Cops LAC hits new low of 645,000
Nine’s Cops LAC delivered the network one of its lowest 8.30pm weekday audiences of the year with just 645,000 metro viewers on Thursday night.
It was beaten by Ten’s Commonwealth Games coverage (averaging 804,000) and Seven’s Criminal Minds (757,000), according to preliminary overnight ratings from OzTam.
Cops LAC’s previous low was last week when it rated 712,000.

Network Ten’s best Commonwealth Games performance came with a combined audience of 1.32 million viewers across One and Ten watching Alicia Coutts receive her gold medal for the 100m butterfly.
The simulcast also delivered One its biggest audience share to date.

What a shame that an Australian made show doesn’t rate well but we are all just sick of the cop dramas hence why Blue Heelers is no longer on television. Bring on more shows like Offspring – that is a great show atm.

Go back to Summer Bay Sally. I am sure Irene needs an extra pair of hands in the diner with summer comming up.

No wonder it’s tanking, it’s woeful – bad acting, bad scripting, bad everything
I watched it last night for the first time and thought it was so bad, I actually considered watching the Comm Games for a while…

Watched it once. What a train wreck… almost felt bad for everyone on it

@Sarah L–I’ve seen that you enjoy commenting on TV shows, out of curiosity what is it about Offspring that you think makes good TV?

Rubbish TV – find it amusing that Kate Richie left TV to pursue Radio, then decided she wanted to pursue acting again and she opens with the show! Boom there goes the acting career!

Agree!
The acting is lacking, the accents embarassing ie: girl from Summer Bay or wherever she is from! And why would a female detective wonder around in a tight pencil skirt with ridiculously high ankle boots. Insulting to female Police officers and Detectives really!

@Anon – Hello and thanks for the question. In my opinion, Offspring is good because it is written very similarly to how a females mind works, many of my friends have commented how easy it is to relate and understand the main character of Nina. It also is very romantic, funny and has lots of over the top shocks but keeps you entertained. I’m not trying to plug my blog but for further explanation I wrote a post on here http://genyjourno.blogspot.com.....pring.html
Do you watch it?

Hi Sara L – i don’t watch Offspring – although I hope it continues – good to see an aussie show making a go of it and i like the concept – maybe it doesn’t have legs though?
anyway I disagree with you comment that we are sick of cops shows and that is why blue heelers isn’t around anymore. I think cop shows still have potential in OZ. If we are going to make our own however, we need to be more sophisticated and produce things like CSI, Cold Case, Criminal Minds etcetera. The typical aussie cop melodrama such as LAC, or City Homicide is missing the mark

@Another Anon – I think your thoughts are very valid and true, I probably didn’t think my comment through well enough, because even Underbelly is a very police orientated and it does well. So you are suggesting more well though scripts like the American programs?
Perhaps people are just getting confused with the image of Soft Sally Kate Ritchie as a cop doesn’t really translate well, certainly doesn’t make me want to watch it!
Definetely give Offspring a go, as with many tv shows you can watch full episodes online too at the website which has been very hand when I’ve missed a few.
Thank-you and have a lovely weekend! 🙂

The cast, the approach, the name all need to be changed. Have the producers not worked out that viewrs are tired of seeing the same few faces in the same kind of shows, over and over again. This is slack, formula casting at it’s worst and the formula no longer works when viewers switch over to avoid the over exposed hacks that seem to pop up in every new show. lets have some variety in the actors we choose to watch. Don’t get me started on the writing and production values…..

Awful rubbish.
Awful acting.
So far removed from reality it can only be regarded as comedy.
Seriously why have these people been cast in this?
Pretty much all the cast could not act in their last show and they still cannot act in this one, so why are they here when real actors can’t get a look in?
Why make a show like his if it is not going to be true to life?
Are they actually surprised it has failed?
