Mumbrella360 joins Vivid Sydney lineup
Mumbrella360 has been announced as an official event within year’s Vivid Sydney festival programme, which officially launched today.
Vivid Sydney kicked off this morning with six industry events including Mumbrella360 sitting under its banner.
Events NSW CEO Geoff Parmenter told this morning’s launch at the Sydney Opera House: “Business events across the creative industry have really grasped the opportunity of having a conference in this space.”
Executive producer Ignatius Jones said that the aim is to increase the number of industry events under the Vivid Sydney banner from six in 2011 to 20 next year. He said: “We are working with our best and brightest talents in the creative industries, and inviting international creative minds to Sydney to show off what they can do, to swap ideas and most importantly reach out to the public and electrify us with their creations. At Vivid Sydney, creativity changes everything.”
Vivid Sydney runs from May 27 to June 13. Mumbrella360 takes place at the Hilton Hotel in Sydney on June 7 and 8.
Other industry events included within Vivid Sydney include X Media Labs and tech conference CEBIT. Vivid Sydney also includes giant light sculptures and fire installation around Circular Quay, the illumination of the Opera House, and a music programme including Bat for Lashes, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, The Avalanches, Cut Copy, Horse Meat Disco and The Crystal Ark.
The ABC’s Triple J will also be supporting the festival with a daily show from 2 Many DJs.
The two-day Mumbrella360 will run across four streams. The opening keynote had been announced as Richard Freudenstein, CEO of News Digital Media and The Australian in what is likely to be his only public address of the year.
Among the topics already revealed are a session on ethics in marketing, a discussion on whether advertising has become too boring, and parallel streams focusing on marketing to Gen X, Gen Y, Gen Z and baby boomers. Industry participants include senior media agency bosses who will lead a conversation on the move to automated trading, plus a push to create a manifesto for the future of the media industry. There will also be a live marketing experiment curated by Naked Communications.
Earlybird tickets are currently on sale. Details are available at the Mumbrella360 website.

Interesting to see Ignatius Jones hiring a French company to deliver the creative goods on this Australian event. Couldn’t find a local company to do it?
