General Pants’ nude campaign branded ‘disgusting advertising ploy’
A new social campaign by General Pants and Co to launch its new store on Sydney’s George Street has been blasted by Facebook users, with one describing it as a “disgusting advertising ploy.”
The fashion retailer’s online ad shows naked men and women along George Street skateboarding, playing the guitar, drinking a coffee and running into the new store to find clothes.
General Pants and Co have censored out the models’ private body parts.
One scene shows business men watching on as a naked women drinks her coffee and sends a text from her phone.
While another scene shows a man skateboarding past a business firm giving business men the ‘shakas’ sign.
General Pants and Co customers took to Facebook to express their opinions on the new ad.
One customer said: “You’ve just lost 4 customers and anyone else who asks me where to buy jeans I’ll be telling about your disgusting advertising ploys. How disappointing when you have great products- but I’m not giving you my money when you go so low with objectifying women in your ads. I’m truely disgusted!”
“I’m genuinely curious: what does a naked, faceless woman’s body have to do with your store and its apparel? What goods are you advertising and what was your goal when coming up with this advertising campaign?” Another woman said.
It’s just a bit of fun and made me smile. People are so uptight these days. And not sure one FB comment equates to a campaign being “branded” disgusting.

I bought some clothes from General Pants once. They disintegrated after a few washes and came apart on my way to work. I’d say the ad is an accurate reflection of the quality.

OMG a youth brand marketing with nudity. That is appalling. Don’t they understand that we buy their clothes to hide our sinful physical form.
