WA: Business Development Fund/workshop

Screenwest has launched the 2009-10 Business Development Fund, providing support of up to $80,000 over two years to production companies and affiliated independent screen industry businesses. A one-day workshop will take place on February 3 to assist potential applicants.

The initiative, which has evolved from the 2008-09 Development Review, has a two-stage application process. The first is an expression of interest template, which must contain informationa about the business’ current status, a development plan and the feasibility of being able to achieve it within two to four years. Applications for this stage close on March 2.

Up to five applicants will be selected for stage two, which will require a detailed business plan and an interview with the panel to discuss it.

The one-day workshop, presented by the Small Business Development Corporation and ScreenWest, will go through, in detail, a business plan template that has been modified specifically for the film and television industry.  This template will allow attendees to better plan their documentation and project for the second stage of the process.
