Ten launches DIY show to run for six days a week in afternoon timeslot
Ten is set to re-enter the DIY space with a new afternoon program called The Home Team which aims to empower those wanting to have a crack at some home improvements.
The new show, debuting on Monday, will run from Monday to Saturdays for ten weeks, and has signed up a number of partners including Daikin Air, REA, BOQ, Berger, Haier, Silkkens, Stratco, HPM, Beaumont Tiles and Monier.
Complete with three hosts, builder James Bawden, interior stylist Julia Green and landscape designer Anthony Scott, the show will show audiences how to undertake a variety of home improvement tasks as the hosts themselves undertake the job of completely renovating a triple-fronted, double brick ‘renovators delight’.
Weekday episodes air in the 3.30pm – 4pm timeslot and the Saturday episode airing from 3pm to 3.30pm.
Each episode will be encored on One that night and again on Ten the next morning.
The judges each offer integral skills needed for renovating. James Bawden, the builder, and a shortlisted Cleo eligible bachelors in 2011, runs a boutique building and design company Bawden Design Group.
Julia Green covers off the interior design needs of the show, with Green also running her own company Greenhouse Interiors since 2010. She also styles and writes for many interior lifestyle magazines including Inside Out, Real Living, Home Beautiful, House & Garden and Frankie.
Anthony Scott, the landscaper of the team, is the principal of Arbour Landscaping Group a company he formed in 1992.
Ten last played in the home renovation TV space with ill-fated reality TV show The Renovators in 2011, while it also covers off design and lifestyle with its The Living Room show on Friday evenings.
Hsquared TV, which also produces Everyday Gourmet with Justine Schofield, is behind the series.

I’m confused by the timeslot… How many prospective viewers are there at 3:30 – 4pm?
Who are they trying to target – so confused and by the sounds of the sponsors I’m not so sure it will be much more than a 30 minute commercial with overt product placement…

3:30 to 4:00 Monday to Saturday? Maybe they should be renovating a Cubby house.
