Grenfell: VCCD “is taking its time” in appointing its new ECD

The founders of the Australian arm of VCCP have rejected speculation the agency lost its creative leadership following the departure of its executive creative director at the end of last year after just 12 months.

It emerged this week that Mark Harricks left the agency in December, while founding ECD Dean Hunt returned to Perth earlier this year for family reasons.

The double departure has left the agency without a permanent ECD, but founder Pete Grenfell told Mumbrella the agency will soon announce a new ECD, while the creative team of Andrew Fraser and Salvatore Gullifa have continued to run the business while recruitment was underway.

Grenfell declined to comment on the departure of Harricks, but said the agency was taking its time to fill the role.

It is understood that the agency recently won two new pieces of business and also extended its contract for another three years with one of its major clients.

Recent work for the agency includes the latest instalment of its campaign for ING Direct, starring Isla Fisher, and a content-driven series for TAFE Western Sydney, Educating Rob.

Harricks joined VCCP from The Works in February 2015 as joint creative lead for the agency with Hunt and has since moved on to a senior role with Assignment Group in New Zealand.
