Tom Steinfort exits Weekend Today for 60 Minutes role
Nine’s Weekend Today co-host Tom Steinfort has announced his departure from the weekend breakfast show to take up a full-time role on current affairs program 60 Minutes.
Steinfort has been co-host of Weekend Today since early last year. He replaced Peter Stefanovic, who also joined 60 Minutes.
Some news of my own – I’m starting a new job tomorrow…..hitting the road full time for 60 Minutes. Excited to be reporting for the network’s flagship current affairs program as it heads into its historic 40th year on Australian television! pic.twitter.com/hm7EaVedta

Steinfort took to Twitter and Instagram to share his news.
“I’m starting a new job tomorrow…..hitting the road full time for 60 Minutes. Excited to be reporting for the network’s flagship current affairs program as it heads into its historic 40th year on Australian television,” he wrote.
“Will miss my work families at The Today Show and Nine News, love you guys! But a big 2018 ahead,” the Instagram post said.
Prior to joining Weekend Today, Steinfort was Nine’s European correspondent, a role which he also took over from Stefanovic. He has worked with Nine since 2007 across various programs, including A Current Affair and Nine News.
Steinfort commences his new role on Monday.
His announcement comes a month after Deborah Knight’s departure from Weekend Today was made public. The Australian reported 60 Minutes reporter Allison Langdon would take over as co-host of Weekend Today.
Late last year, long-standing weekday Today host Lisa Wilkinson departed the program. She joins Ten’s The Project in 2018 and will be executive editor of Ten Daily.
Wilkinson will be replaced by Georgie Gardner on the Today Show later this month.
I cannot say enough about this documentary. The cinematography is brilliant. It is mesmerising, beautifu, brilliant and wonderful. Anyone who loves trains and loves Australia will be over the moon watching this program.
