Seven wins as Ten’s MasterChef fades
Normal service was resumed last night with Seven’s first win in what is becoming an unusual TV ratings week.
Seven had four of the top five rating shows and a 29.3% peak share, according to preliminary ratings from OzTam. Nine had 26.2%; Ten 24.8%; ABC 15.4% and SBS 4.3%
Meanwhile, the second night of Ten’s MasterChef Australia did less well without the help of the Biggest Loser, pulling in an audience of just under 1.1m – down 300,000 on Monday – which wasn’t enough to put it in the top 15 shows.
However, Ten’s strong start means that it is still well ahead for the week to date with an audience share of 29.1%, ahead of Seven’s 25.6% and Nine’s 25.4%.
Seven will be hoping to close that gap with the 7.30pm debut of Thank God You’re Here likely to bite into Ten’s audience for the third night of MasterChef.
Top ten shows for Tuesday:
-
Seven News – Seven 1.6m
-
Today Tonight – Seven 1.4m
- NCIS – Ten 1.4m
-
RSPCA Animal Rescue – Seven 1.3m
-
Find My Family – Seven 1.3m
- Bondi Rescue – Ten 1.3m
-
A Current Affair – Nine 1.3m
-
Two and a Half Men 7pm – Nine 1.2m
-
Two and a Half Men 8.30pm – Nine 1.2m
- 10 Years Younger in 10 Days – Seven 1.2m
Meanwhile, the heavily promoted new series of Australia’s Next Top Model had its debut on Fox8 last night with an excellent rating for pay TV. Across Fox8 and Fox8+2 it scored an avergae audience of just over 300,000.
looks like Nine only has Two and Half shows.

i think ten bought the rights to an absolute loser with Masterchef… the format is old on payTV and the lineup chosen for talent on the ten version is sub-par. no interest to non pay tv folk and will be gone quicker than it came… its a pity, as channel 10 is the better network out of all for shows that add value to marketing response.
looks like paytv is starting to really take a good footing in the marketplace, they really took up the charge with the threat of freeview and tivo… i still will pay for foxtel, rather than a box that has more crap free to air programming on it.

I’m sick of those Two and Half repeats on Nine!

You can’t taste food through the telly.

Give Mastermind a chance – we are so keen to kick a program if it doesnt rate it ears off in the 1st week.
Given that it is on 6 nights a week – I’m sure that it will become ingrained in the psyche after 3-4 weeks (Simpsons style)

I absolutely loved the English version , adore Top Chef U.S.A, think Ramsey is terrific and Jamie Oliver is just great. But the Australian version of Masterchef does nothing but make me bring my food up.
The three food critics, George the sleezy Jamie Oliver wannabe yeh, Matt Preston the fat evil looking one and Gary Mehigan who looks like he has no idea, but I’m sure he has its just that this ridiculous show makes everyone look ridiculous.
The tasting of the food is so off putting and unhygienic that I’m certain that by the end of the series they will all contract some virus off eachother.
I doubt this show will last till the end ! I am very disappointed !

Dargy – considering all the swine flu hype, it is a wonder World Health Org has not come and shut it down.
Once they get into the top 20 the show will starts to rock.
