Euro RSCG Sydney hires Pamela Nelson as ‘talent champion’
Euro RSCG Sydney has become the latest agency to hire an HR manager with a curious job title, appointing Pamela Nelson as talent champion.
A former account director with the now defunct The Moult Agency, which after a series of mergers recently became known as Arnold Furnace, Nelson returns to the Havas group after a time away from the industry having children.
Nelson re-joins with a brief to “boost the understanding of the Euro brand, to foster our culture and increase loyalty,” explained Euro RSCG MD Julie Burke, who joined in March with a brief to reinvigorate the struggling agency.
“An HR director or HR person sounds too corporate and formal,” she added. “At times, I’ve seen the HR function turn into a complaints department. It has too many negative associations. A talent champion is a more positive role. It’s about being uplifting, supportive, and driving agency culture.”
Last month, Ogilvy hired its first HR head, David Sayer, from a psychological counselling firm. It called the role ‘head of talent and performance’.
In June, media agency OMD made its ‘director of people management’ Carolyn Maloney a member of the executive board.
