Sarah James quits Dentsu Aegis Network to become MD of Initiative Melbourne
Sarah James, the managing director of Dentsu Aegis Network’s bespoke agency dedicated to Woolworths, Woolworths@DAN, has quit after after just seven months.
James is leaving the agency to join IPG Mediabrands’ Initiative as the managing director of its Melbourne operation.
James’ departure comes just weeks after Henry Tajer was announced as DAN’s new CEO.
Tajer replaced Simon Ryan, who departed the agency in November to join Car Sales as its managing director of commercial.
“I’m really enthused to be bringing my industry and leadership experience to Initiative, which has an outstanding roster of national brands. It is an exciting move to be joining a business with a culture of client focus,” James said in a statement.
In her new role at Initiative, James is replacing Shaun Briggs who departed the agency to join Specsavers to manage the company’s media planning.
Mumbrella understands James will be working alongside Heath Wooster who runs the Bunnings account.
Initiative CEO, Melissa Fein, said in a statement: “Sarah James has been appointed following an extensive search for an executive of exceptional calibre to lead our successful Melbourne business. Initiative is a major challenger in the market and Sarah brings with her impeccable client and digital leadership skills capable of driving our business forward.
“She is at the top of her game and we’re excited to have her lead our Melbourne operations with its diverse client roster.”
