Meltwater unveils AI-powered writing, insights and analysis tools

Media, social and consumer intelligence company Meltwater has unveiled new AI-powered tools for writing, consumer and market insights, and video analysis.

The tools are additions to Meltwater’s Explore, Engage and Radarly media and social intelligence functions within its platform.

Its AI Writing Assistant tool, sitting within Engage, uses OpenAI’s ChatGPT model to assist content creators by suggesting prompts to improve copy. It also summarises and extracts key points from copy into social posts, as well as generating royalty-free AI-generated images or art.

The Discovery AI-based Insight Assistant uses AI algorithms to automatically surface consumer and market insights. The tool highlights changes, shifts and trends in online conversations to allow teams to make informed business decisions.

The new Video Analysis feature enables users to capture insights from video content on social platforms, using technology that identifies logos, celebrities, scenes and objects. Meltwater said this would help customers gain a more comprehensive understanding of their online brand.

“Meltwater has been investing in AI since day one, and these new generative AI enhancements will bring even more value to our customers. Harnessing the power of online data is no longer limited to teams with advanced technical skills,” Meltwater CTO Aditya Jami said.

“Our AI-powered tools bring the full value of media intelligence to organisations of all kinds by surfacing more relevant insights and generating content, ultimately saving time, streamlining workflows, and boosting productivity.”

Meltwater said it will look to release more AI enhancements like simplifying complicated Boolean search set-up and generating content summaries and automating tags for news and social content. These aim to simplify how to search and organise data and reduce time-to-strategic-insight.

Commenting on the product reveal, Red Havas global CEO James Wright said: “Meltwater’s new Insight Assistant and Video Analysis capabilities have tremendous potential for agencies who are tasked with staying on top of multiple brands across a growing number of news and social channels.”

“Our industry is always changing and evolving, and it’s a game-changer to be able to save time, have access to deeper, more accurate insights, and be alerted to key shifts in brand mentions – all powered by the latest innovations in AI.”
