Ben Naparstek leaves Edelman to join Audible as original content boss
Ben Naparstek, Edelman Australia’s content and digital boss, has joined Audible as its new director of original content.
Naparstek, who joined the agency last July, will now handle the development of original audio shows, series and dramas by Audible, as it looks to boost its Australian offering for users.
Prior to joining Edelman, Naparstek spent two years as SBS’ head of editorial, online and emerging platforms. There, he led 30 content producers, and drove overall strategy for SBS’ online network.
He is also the former editor of Fairfax Media’s Good Weekend magazine and editor of national political magazine The Monthly for three years. He commenced his role at The Monthly at just 23 years old.
Naparstek said the opportunity to join his interests – digital innovation and storytelling – was “too exciting to pass up”.
“I look forward to engaging leading Australian creators and performers from film, television, stage, radio and print industries to develop bold and ambitious original programming,” Naparstek said.
Last year, Audible Australia appointed award-winning broadcaster and documentary maker, Jesse Cox, to the role of head of content. Shortly afterwards, Cox passed away, as a result of a bleed from a tumour in his brain.

Wow, the ‘boy wonder’ narrative outlasts the half dozen role changes; wander seems more apt at this point…
