Box office February 11-14
Vampire film Daybreakers was drained by the romanticism of Valentine’s Day, falling to number nine this weekend, with $468,310 for a total gross of almost $1.9m.
Bran Nue Dae is out of the top 10 but still managed to earn $259,624, a strong performance considering it was the film’s fifth weekend. It has made more than $6.5m so far.
American romantic comedy Valentine’s Day, featuring an all-star cast including Julia Roberts, Shirley McLaine, Jennifer Garner, Bradley Cooper, Jamie Foxx and Anne Hathaway, took the first spot with $7.5m. Following the ’10 percent’ rule, it was even more successful here than in the US, where it made U$56.4m.
