Think HQ appoints multicultural insights director

Integrated communications agency Think HQ has bolstered its diverse communications arm, CultureVerse, with the senior appointment of specialist multicultural communications practitioner and qualitative researcher Dr Som Sengmany as multicultural insights director.

With 15 years of industry and research experience, Segmany will be charged with developing culturally appropriate communication and engagement strategies and research approaches for multicultural audiences.

He will work with the broader Think HQ team to develop fully inclusive communications strategies and research approaches for clients, and inject culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) audience perspectives into broader campaigns and projects.

Segmany’s experience encompasses a range of sectors, including state and local government and not-for-profit community health, most recently as strategic communications and engagement adviser to Whitehorse City Council. He recently completed a PhD (Deakin University) on multicultural communications in the Victorian Government and multicultural sectors.

“Som brings a powerful combination of practical knowledge with academically trained research skills to the development of evidence-based communications strategies. His insights and research will be invaluable to both CultureVerse and the wider Think HQ teams and clients seeking to communicate and engage with diverse CALD audiences and communities,” Think HQ founder and managing director Jen Sharpe said.

Sengmany said he was drawn to Think HQ’s leadership in and dedication to CALD communications: “I’m delighted to be joining Think HQ’s CultureVerse team. The agency’s deep understanding of, expertise in, and commitment to inclusive communications and engagement across so many sectors make it the perfect place to put my research and expertise into practice,” he said.

“I’m looking forward to working with the broader Think HQ team to develop even more ethnically diverse and culturally inclusive communications practices that meet the needs of both clients and CALD communities.”
