Youtube and Emirates launch Your Film Festival

Youtube and Emirates have partnered with Venice Film Festival and Ridley Scott’s company Scott Free for a short film competition.

The global competition is seeking 15-minute story driven films of any format, style and genre to submit to youtube.com/yourfilmfestival.

Once a shortlist of 50 films have been made, international audiences can cast their votes for the top ten.

The finalists will then travel to Italy where their work will screen during the 69th Venice International Film Festival, in August.

Robert Kyncl, Global Head of Content at YouTube said: “Your Film Festival is another example of our investment in great creators worldwide. Through this program, YouTube will give filmmakers the opportunity to reach a vast audience, screen their work during the Venice Film Festival and potentially be rewarded in a career-changing way.”

Ridley Scott and Scott Free have previously worked with Youtube with the documentary Life in a Day, using audience sourced footage.

Submissions for the competition open 2 February and close 31 March.
