MKR and The Blacklist win for Seven as audience picks up for Ten’s Puberty Blues

Puberty Blues 2 Ten

With 1.56m metro viewers MKR was the most popular show of the night, followed closely by The Block with 1.233m on Channel Nine, as Ten had 352,000 for The Biggest Loser, up from the low of 307,000 the night before.

Channel Ten saw ratings lift to 529,000 for Puberty Blues, up from 477,000 last week, although the show was still shy of its debut to 544,000 on March 6. Puberty Blues also gained 113,000 viewers in consolidated ratings increasing its total audience for episode two to 590,000 over the last seven days.

Nine’s real-life investigation show Inside Story focused on teen killers and the latest news on the mystery of missing Malaysian Airlines flight MH370. The show appeared to close the gap on Seven’s popular US import The Blacklist with a metro audience of 852,000 while Seven had 871,000 for its popular US import in the 8.45pm spot.

However The Blacklist’s slip may be accredited to it not airing in Adelaide until 9.45pm, as Downton Abbey was shown in Adelaide only at 8.45pm as it did not air on Sunday because of the AFL game.

Nine led in current affairs programming with Nine News gaining 1.117m for the first half hour ahead of Seven News’ 1.106m, and 1.034m for the second half, as Seven had 977,000 for its combination of News on the east coast and Today Tonight elsewhere.

A Current Affair then won the 7pm timeslot for Nine, ahead of Seven’s Home and Away with 910,000 for Nine and 873,000 for the long-running beach soap.

In catch-up viewing, The Blacklist was the most time-shifted show as it gained 238,000 viewers during the week to a total 1.143m for last Wednesday’s episode.

Channel Seven also saw strong gains in consolidated numbers for My Kitchen Rules, increasing from 1.63m to 1.764m during the week and Chicago Fire rose from 283,000 to 399,000.

Seven won the night with a 25.2 per cent audience share and Channel Nine was close behind with 23.6 per cent. Ten’s audience share was 9.8 per cent, making it fourth for the night behind ABC1’s 11.1 per cent.
