Seven’s The Super Switch secures just 1,000 more viewers than Cricket World Cup

On its second night out, Seven’s The Super Switch has barely beaten the ICC Cricket World Cup coverage of Australia v Pakistan on 9Gem, with 381,000 metro viewers compared to 380,000 for the cricket.

It follows Tuesday night’s premiere which saw a disappointing 308,000 metro viewers tune in to the revamped reality dating format.

With the addition of regional viewers, the cricket drew 547,000  for 9Gem, a Nine multi-channel, making it the highest rating multi-channel program of 2019. 9Gem also had the highest audience share for the multi-channels, holding 10.7% of the overall audience for the evening.

Wednesday night was also a good one for Ten, with Masterchef finding 200,000 extra viewers on last week, to deliver 731,000 metro viewers over 531,000 the week prior when it was up against the first game of the 2019 State of Origin. Without The Voice to fight against, Masterchef also topped all three key advertising demographics – 16-39s, 18-49s and 25-54s.

Five Bedrooms also saw a jump in its viewership, lifting from 347,000 last week to 499,000. It slipped into the top five shows for the 16-39s and 18-49s.

Anh’s Brush With Fame brought 544,000 metro viewers to the ABC. The episode, which saw him paint controversial radio king Alan Jones, brought in slightly less viewers than last week and caused some backlash on social media.

The Weekly with Charlie Pickering brought in 514,000, while Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation on Nine saw 483,000 metro viewers tune in.

Seven’s The Front Bar, which peaked at 512,000 metro viewers in May, pulled 424,000.

Ten was the most-watched channel overall by 25-54-year-old metro audiences, holding an 18% share above Seven’s 17.1% and Nine’s 16%. Ten took the win in 16-39s too with a 19.4% share.

Seven took the overall audience share win, thanks to Seven News which was the most-watched program with 1.103m metro viewers and Home and Away which delivered 718,000. The channel held a 17.4% share overall, above Nine’s 15.6%, Ten’s 13.9% and ABC’s 11.2%.

However, in the network audience share, Nine slipped ahead thanks to 9Gem and the cricket. It held 31.7%, over Seven’s 25.4%, Ten’s 21.2% and ABC’s 15.7%.
