Nine wins 13th ratings week and remains just ahead in ongoing yearly battle

The free-to-air primary channel and network which will win the overall ratings year is still unclear, as Nine edged ahead to win its 13th survey week.

The primary channel had a share of 22.5%, ahead of Seven’s 20.1%, while the network had 31.5%, ahead of Seven’s 29.8%.

Nine also had success in the key advertising demographics, with a 24.6% share in those aged 25 to 54, ahead of Seven’s 18.1%, and Ten’s 16.2%. With the addition of multi-channels, Nine Network had 34.6% in this demographic, ahead of Seven’s 27.4%, and Ten’s 22.4%.

In the slightly younger 16 to 39s, Nine had a 24.1% share for its primary channel, however Ten edged into second with 19.4%. Seven had 17.7%. On a network basis, Nine remained on top with 34.5% of the 16 to39s, while Seven Network took back second place with 26.3%, thanks largely to 7Mate’s 4.6% share. Network Ten had a 24.9% share of the 16 to 39s.

So far, during the survey period – which has time off at the beginning of the year and over Easter – Nine’s primary channel has won 13 weeks in total people, to Seven’s nine.

They are tied in the network battle, however, at 11 weeks a piece.

On a primary channel basis, Nine has a year-to-date average of 21.42%, to Seven’s 20.27%.

Seven remains just ahead in the network battle with 29.8%, just 0.2 percentage points ahead of Nine Network’s 29.6%.

This week Ten had an 11.8% primary channel share and 17.1% for the network.

The most-watched shows of the week were on Nine – Australian Ninja Warrior’s final episode, and the winner announcement.

The following graphic was compiled by Nine, based on OzTAM data. It excludes ABC and SBS viewing, meaning percentage numbers will not match the numbers referred to above.
