Adelaide radio ratings: Mix back on top thanks to drive-time surge from Will and Woody

Mix has climbed back on top in Adelaide, with an overall 13.6% share (up 1.7 percentage points) against Nova’s 11% (down one percentage point). The return of Mix to the top of the ladder comes after Nova took out last survey to end Mix’s 27-survey run.

Mix’s win this survey was driven by a surge from Will and Woody in the drive-time slot, with the duo jumping three percentage points to 15.2%. It wasn’t enough to edge out Nova’s Kate, Tim and Marty – who despite a 0.7 percentage point decline, remain on top in the slot with a 15.7% share, but it did push the network to an overall win.

Coming in behind Nova and Mix in drive-time in GfK’s survey eight – running from 29 September to 7 December – was Hit 107 on 10.2%. Hit duos Carrie Bickmore and Tommy Little, and Dave Hughes and Kate Langbroek were back 0.7 percentage points.

Langbroek recently announced she would be extending her Italian stay by a further 12 months. As a result, comedian Ed Kavalee will replace her in the slot in 2020. Next year, Hughesy and Ed will run from 5pm to 7pm on weekdays, with Carrie Bickmore and Tommy Little’s earlier drive show extending by half an hour to run from 3pm to 5pm.

Earlier in the day, the breakfast slot experienced a shake up of its own. Despite recent domination, ABC Adelaide’s Ali Clarke dropped 1.5 percentage points, causing its share to fall to 12.7%. That decline, combined with a 1.5 percentage point climb of its own was enough for Five AA to take the lead, easily topping breakfast with a 14.2% share.

Mix’s Jodie Oddy and Mark ‘Soda’ Soderstrom landed on 12.1%, back 0.7 percentage points. Nova’s breakfast declined by 0.8 percentage points for a 10.1% share for Dylan Lewis and Hayley Pearson’s final survey.

Overall in the people 10+ demographic, Five AA placed third behind Mix and Nova, scoring a 10.9% share after a 0.6 percentage point increase.

ABC Adelaide slid one percentage point due to its breakfast decline, and had a 9% overall share.
