Superhero film Bloodshot opens at the top of the box office with $1.4m
The Vin Diesel-fronted superhero film, Bloodshot, has debuted at the top of the Australian box office over the weekend, taking in $1.4m across 346 screens.
The film is based on the Valiant Comics character of the same name, and is intended to be the first in a series of films which will take place in a shared cinematic universe.

Coming in second after two weekends at the top of the box office was psychological horror film, The Invisible Man. Experiencing a drop of 51% on the previous week, the film earned $1.08m from 273 screens.
In its fifth weekend at the box office, Sonic the Hedgehog drew $668,376 from 297 screens, also a drop of 51% from the previous week. The running total in Australia for the live-action take on the Sega video game character is $11.86m.
Another debutant at the box office was Military Wives. The film starring Kristin Scott Thomas and Sharon Horgan is inspired by the true story of the Military Wives Choir which was formed in the UK by women whose partners were serving in Afghanistan. The film took $404,099 from 256 screens.
Also in their first weekends were My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising and I Still Believe which took $358,967 and $206,966, respectively.
Australian film Miss Fisher And The Crypt Of Tears took $244,743 in its third weekend from 314 screens. The film comes off the back of the ABC television series Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries which was based on author Kerry Greenwood’s historical mystery novels. Its running total is now $2.8m.
Rounding out the top 10 was Disney’s The Call Of The Wild with $161,698 from 184 screens and in its 10th weekend, war epic 1917. The Oscar winning film added $148,788 to its running total, enabling it to just surpass $23m.
