Brisbane radio ratings: Nova claws back top spot in breakfast, ties with 97.3FM for overall highest share

Nova106.9’s breakfast show featuring Ash Bradnam, Kip Wightman and David ‘Luttsy’ Lutteral has won back the top breakfast spot in Brisbane with a 12.6% share, after a 1.0 point increase from last survey.

In the third GfK radio ratings survey of the year, the breakfast battle was tight, with Hit105’s show with Abby Coleman, Stav Davidson and Matty Acton just 0.1 point away with a 12.5% audience share.

ARN and Nova’s joint venture 97.3 FM had its breakfast show place a close third, with a 12.3% share. Co-host Terry Hansen announced this morning he would be leaving the show in the coming weeks due to health problems related to punishing breakfast hours.

Nova 106.9’s share increase helped it to a joint first overall audience share slot with 97.3FM, with 13% each. Nova 106.9 increased 0.9 points from last survey, while 97.3 FM increased by 0.1 points.

Hit105 followed behind in second place with an 11.6% overall audience share.

Hit105 gave a strong performance in drive, with the new format featuring Carrie Bickmore and Tommy Little, followed by David Hughes and Kate Langbroek increasing 1.5 points from last survey. The drive show was filled by Hamish and Andy until the end of last year.

The SCA Hit Network format’s 14.4% audience share wasn’t enough to knock Kate Ritchie, Tim Blackwell and Marty Sheargold’s Nova 106.9 drive show off the top spot, especially after its 1.6 point increase to 15.8%.

The newly-launched Macquarie Sports Radio increased by 0.8 points in drive, and maintained its 0.5% share in breakfast. The station didn’t increase its overall share at all, remaining at 0.5%.

The station counts its new audience from April 4, with this survey period running from March 11 to April 14 and April 22 to May 26.
