First Ashes Test 21/22 Day 1 draws in metro audience of 503K as Seven wins Wednesday

Seven’s Test cricket coverage is underway – which saw Australia roll England for 147 on day one – and it was the #1 in entertainment on Wednesday night, as the network also celebrated an overall night win.

The cricket match brought in a metro audience of 503,000, while the network’s Big Bash game between Hobart and Sydney aired to a metro audience of 394,000.

In non-sport entertainment, an episode of ABC’s Hard Quiz pulled in a metro audience of 501,000, followed by Nine’s Mega Zoo which saw 440,000 metro viewers tune in.

Ten’s The Project was next with 350,000 metro viewers, while an episode of Nine’s Emergency RPT aired to 341,000 metro viewers.

The #1 program on Wednesday was Seven News, which had an average of 899,000 metro viewers, ahead of Nine News with 889,000, and Seven News at 6:30 with 855,000 metro viewers.

As previously mentioned, Seven won the night, taking an overall network share of 29.8% over Nine’s 27.9% share, while Ten had a 17.7% network share, and the ABC had a share of 16.2.

Seven also won primary channel share while the top-rating multi-channel for Wednesday was 10 Peach with a share of 4.2%.

In the latest Daily Consolidated Total TV Report for 1 December, Seven News was the #1 program nationally across linear and BVOD television, with 1.747 million viewers including 31,000 on national BVOD.

The program with the biggest uplift however was an episode of Could You Survive On The Breadline? On SBS which had a 30% uplift on overnight figures and had a total of 347,000 viewers overall and a national BVOD audience of 26,000.
