Australia Post appoints Coles’ Amber Collins as CMO

Australia Post has announced the appointment of Coles’ Amber Collins as its new chief marketing officer, replacing Karl Winther who commenced in the role last October and departed in March.

Collins started in the CMO role two weeks ago on 13 August, and will have overall responsibility for developing and executing marketing strategy and plans to support revenue and growth ambitions, as well as creating an iconic brand “that Australians know and love so they’ll be loyal beyond reason”.

Collins has commenced in the new role

“Amber brings valuable experience from an international career spanning over 20 years in advertising, branding, product development, digital experience and retail marketing,” Nicole Sheffield, executive general manager community and consumer, said in an email to staff announcing Collins’ appointment.

“Most recently, Amber held general manager positions over nine years at Coles and Target spanning brand and media, digital marketing, house-brand and central marketing where she led well-known campaigns including ‘Good Things are Happening at Coles’, Second Bite and Sports for Schools. She also built acquisition programs for Coles Online, flybuys and Coles Financial Services amongst many others.”

Sheffield added that Collins will work “hand in hand” with Australia Post’s business and government and international colleagues.

Sheffiled herself joined Australia Post last year as executive general manager of community and consumer, from her previous role as chief digital officer at News Corp.

Last month, Australia Post named Wavemaker as its media agency of record, replacing Dentsu X.
